Competition?
Meet Fife... Such a beautiful feline. She's been seen roaming the halls today exploring the backside. Hmmm.... I wonder if someone is trying to tell me I have some competition?? Do you think I need to be a little more proactive? Just like the other staff, I am trying to do several things around here and little Fife can just stand in line. I will not share my exploration of this fine place. I need to help Fife find a new home. I found some very cool places to sit and watch things today. I am also excited about tomorrow. Some more new volunteers will begin their first day of working. I want to see what they learn. I know they will love this place just as much as I do!
Germ Free
Today I really wanted to help out. I must have spent 2 hours trying to get this darn glove on my paw. Does anyone know if I can buy these to fit better? I need them to clean out some of the cages. Our animal lovers must be very careful when cleaning out the cages around here. So, they wear gloves when cleaning them each morning. Every precaution is used in each area to help prevent any animal from getting ill. If you don't follow the rules around here, it could become a serious situation. So way to keep the spreading of unwanted diseases... gloves. If you can't wear them, you don't get to clean. Well, guess I will find another area to work. I know the best place... the break room. There are always things I can find in there to eat clean.
Anyone Want a drink?
I like to hang out here and see what good things I can learn. You know you can hear some great stuff at the water cooler! All of the animals get fresh water each morning and the staff watch it daily to ensure it remains full for our friends to have a chance to drink it all day. As the weather gets warmer, we have to watch carefully. Our furry friends need to be cared for regularly. We are grateful for a wonderful group of people who care for each of them. If you have a heart for my friends and want to help, please sign up to volunteer with us.

Forever Families Wanted
Have you met Cinnamon? Well my friends, it's too late. Cinnamon has a new forever family and will be going home in just a day or two. We are really excited for him. We had 4 adoptions today. Woohoo! There is a lot of work that goes into each adoption.
First our staff help the new family find the 'just right' match. After they make the match, then they begin the paperwork phase.
Next, the family completes the adoption application (some have already completed one via our website www.petsforpeople.org)
The staff begin the process of doing what is called a 'vet check'. This is where they call the family's vet and make sure any previous/current pets of the family have been well cared for as well as preventative care.
Sometimes landlords are called for permission. Sometimes we have to check out the family to make sure they are prepared to welcome a new family member into their home.
If all checks out... an appointment is made with the clinic to have our furry friend spayed or neutered and then it's time for the new family to go home together.
The whole process may take 2-3 days but our staff works to complete the task as quickly as possible so our new family can begin their new lives together.
Did you hear it??? That's the bell ringing again... another friend has been adopted!

Hey Kenny!!
Did you hear about the backup on the Interstate today? Unfortunately, it detained a few of our staff this morning so I thought I would try to help with the morning clean up. Trying to move this trash can by myself was just not working.... Hey Kenny... where did you go?? I need some help. Anyone? H. E. L. P. me....
Sorry You Missed Me
Many thanks to Kevin Born and Cool925 Radio for letting me share the listening Spotlight. I am not sure what Kevin thought but I sure had fun watching Jerry move all around the studio trying to get into everything. I showed much better behavior than he did! Don't miss the HSSET every Wednesday morning on both KLVI AM and KCOL FM to hear the Pet of the Week on the Radio. They are special people for sharing information on our furry friends!
I'm Going to Be Famous!
You can't see me right now but I am on my way to the radio station (560 AM and 92.5 FM) with Stephanie. I learned today she goes every Wednesday to talk about one of my furry friends to help people know who is still waiting for their forever family. Stephanie will be taking pictures so I'll have Audine (my personal assistant) post them later. Today, I was so honored when Stephanie said she would let me go with her. It's another one of those "Loopy" moments. No one does just one job around the HSSET, as I am learning. You know what is also amazing to me, no one complains when the shelter manager asks them to do "just one more thing". That is a wonderful quality to have with a group of people who already give 100% of their hearts to their jobs.
Later today I will be posting about some of the "heart" parts of the jobs around here and how working here can be an emotional roller coaster. But for now....
I am going to be Famous. Just listen for me, well Stephanie but I'm here too!

Just Call Me A Twitterer
I am so excited! We have a twitter account. Now, please be patient as these little paws have difficulty with our blog so twittering is going to be challenging. However, we need to move with the groove and that's what we are doing. So, until we get a hang of everything, follow us patiently and we will get moving! I'm doing the twitter dance... can't you see?
Oh yes... twitter me at Loopy@HSSETLoppy ... (I always wanted to say that!)
